If you don't mind locking your money away for a fixed period, the 3 Year Fixed Rate Cash ISA (1) will help you make the most of your annual savings allowance by earning tax-free interest.

The Fixed Rate Cash ISA key features are:

  • Apply for an account by post or at our Epsom branch
  • Save up to £250,000
  • Save up to your annual ISA allowance whilst the issue is available
  • Tax-free interest earned from the day we receive your investment (subject to identification requirements being met)
  • Fixed interest rate for the duration of the term
  • Interest paid annually on 30 September and added to the account
  • Additions are allowed for 15 calendar days after account opening
  • Add to your savings* by debit card, by transfer from your bank account, by cheque, by transfer from another account with us or by cash
  • Transfers from flexible and non-flexible Cash ISAs are accepted where a transfer form accompanies the account application form
  • No withdrawals prior to maturity of the fixed rate term
  • Transfer to another ISA provider or closure allowed, subject to Early Access Charges applying

How do I open and manage my account? 

  • The 3 Year Fixed Rate Cash ISA (1) is exclusively available for all existing ISA customers with an open ISA as at 1 May
  • This ISA can be applied for by post or at our Epsom branch
  • Flexible and non-flexible Cash ISAs can be transferred into the 3 Year Fixed Rate Cash ISA (1). The transfer request should be made to us in the first instance and the transfer request form must accompany the account application form. Any further transfer requests made after the application form is sent will not be accepted
  • Additions are allowed for 15 calendar days after the account is opened. After this period no further additions are allowed. We reserve the right to return funds if you decide to invest more than the amount originally specified on your original application
  • Additions to the account can be made by transfer from your bank account, by cheque, by transfer from an another savings account with us or by cash
  • A minimum of £1,000 must be deposited
  • The annual statutory limit for the tax year 2018 / 2019 is £20,000
  • A maximum of £250,000 may be held in the account
  • Instructions for the account can be made via the Online Service, by phone, by post or at our Epsom branch

Can I withdraw money? 

  • Withdrawals are not permitted prior to maturity of the fixed rate term
  • Transfer to another ISA provider or closure is subject to Early Access Charges. Please see the 'Taking Money Out' section of the Product Features leaflet for full information
  • The funds in your Fixed Rate Cash ISA become available for reinvestment or withdrawal without charge on the maturity date shown on your Savings Account Certificate. We will write to you no later than 15 calendar days before maturity with details of the products available for reinvestment. Please refer to the Maturity section of the Product Features leaflet for full information

This product is not a flexible ISA.

Transfers in of flexible ISAs are allowed, however you will lose the flexibility of being able to replace withdrawn funds.

This is a strictly limited issue and may be withdrawn at any time without prior notice.

How to apply – Transfer of an existing Cash ISA only

You can apply to transfer an existing Cash ISA to a new 3 Year Fixed Rate Cash ISA account in the following ways:

• By post: Request an application pack

• By visiting our Epsom branch, which can be found in Ashley Square, Epsom, Surrey, KT18 5DD

• Request an application pack over the phone: Call us on 03330 140141

Please note, you can’t apply online to transfer an existing Cash ISA into a new 3 Year Fixed Rate Cash ISA if you are not adding new money as part of this year’s ISA subscription. However, you will be able to manage your account online once it has been opened. 

To transfer your existing Cash ISA to the Family Building Society, you will need to complete and send us both a 3
Year Fixed Rate Cash ISA Application Form (click on “REQUEST AN APPLICATION PACK” above right) AND a Cash ISA Transfer Authority Form. We will then notify your current ISA provider so that the transfer can begin in line with their terms and conditions. The process can take up to 15 working days from receipt of an application form and transfer request form to the new account being opened. It varies depending on the speed with which your existing ISA manager responds to our request.

Debit card transactions are subject to approval by your bank and may be declined if you do not have sufficient funds available in your bank account or the transaction exceeds your bank's anti-fraud limits.
