Here are our answers to the most common questions asked by our members about the Windfall Bond.

Prize draw

The Windfall Bond draws take place every month, on the tenth working day of the month.

Every month, all qualifying Windfall Bonds are entered into a Monthly Free Prize Draw. To qualify for entry into the prize draw, each Windfall Bond must have:

  • an investment of exactly £10,000
  • a registered nominated bank account
  • account holders must be aged 18 and over.

A Windfall Bond account will be entered in a draw for the first time in the second calendar month after being opened and meeting the qualifying criteria above. For example a Windfall Bond account opened in August will be entered into October's Prize Draw.

No. You don't need to register to enter the draw - each qualifying bond will be entered into the draw without you having to register.
You'll receive a certificate for each bond once opened, but not confirmation of entry into the prize draw.
Yes. Each Windfall Bond requires a deposit of £10,000 and you can have as many bonds as you like (subject to availability). Every qualifying bond is entered into the draw separately. So for example, if you had five Windfall Bonds you would be entered into the draw five times.
Indefinitely, although we do reserve the right to change the terms of the draw, the prizes available or end the monthly free draw after giving 70 calendar days notice.

The only way to not be included in the draw is to close your Windfall Bond account after the 35-day notice period as per your current terms.

You can contact us using the secure messaging facility available within the Online Service, by phone or by writing to us.

Please note, once notice has been given to close a Windfall Bond account, this cannot be amended or cancelled.

For full details of the draw please refer to the Prize Draw Rules.

Prizes

Details of the upcoming draw, including the Prize Fund value and number of prizes on offer will be provided on our website each month ahead of the next draw.

The value of the Windfall Bond's Monthly Prize Fund will vary each month, in proportion with the value of Windfall Bonds entered into the previous month's free Prize Draw.

The Prize Fund Value will be calculated by taking the total value of Windfall Bond deposits entered into the previous month’s free Prize Draw, multiplied by 1%, and divided by 12.

As an example, the Prize Fund for November would be calculated as the total value of Windfall Bond deposits entered into October’s prize draw, multiplied by 1% and divided by 12.

More information on how to calculate the Prize Fund value can be found in clause 9 in the Prize Draw Rules, which is also contained within the Product Features leaflet.

Winning and claiming a prize

If you are a winner of a Level A or a Level B prize, a member of our Family Service Team will contact you to confirm your details, after which the prize money will be paid into your pre-nominated bank account.

If you are a Level C, D or E prize winner – the prize money will automatically be paid into your pre-nominated account and we will notify you by email or letter.

Your prize winnings will be sent to you by bank transfer. We'll send the funds to the account you nominated on the application form when you applied for your Windfall Bond.
Yes, if you hold more than one Windfall Bond you have a greater chance of winning.

Unfortunately we won't be able to provide a list of winners on our website, instead, we will notify the Windfall Bond account holders who have won a prize directly.

Details of the upcoming draw, including the Prize Fund value and number of prizes on offer, will be provided on our website each month ahead of the next draw.

Change of circumstances

The Windfall Bond draw is open only to UK residents. If you move outside of the UK you will not be eligible for a prize in the monthly draw so may wish to transfer your money to another account with us or close your account and withdraw your money.
